The Council for Social Justice NJ Announces Black History Month Essay Contest 2022 Winner<\/strong><\/p>\n

The contest challenged high school students to reflect on diversity and racial injustice.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The New Jersey chapter of the Council for Social Justice, (CSJ NJ) is pleased to announce the winner of the 2022 statewide Black History Month Essay Contest.<\/p>\n

High school students were asked to write 600 words or less on the following topics:<\/p>\n

  • Grades 9 & 10: The Power of Diversity in the Community<\/li>\n
  • Grades 11 & 12: Racial Injustice and the Responsibility of Youth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    After careful review of all submitted essays, our panel of judges announced the following winners:<\/p>\n

    • Grades 9 & 10\n
        \n
      • 1st<\/sup> prize:\u00a0Shaimaa Al-Zaman of Princeton Junction, NJ<\/li>\n
      • 2nd<\/sup> prize:\u00a0Noor Alawi of Wayne, NJ<\/li>\n
      • 3rd<\/sup> prize:\u00a0Rayhana Choudhury of Fair Lawn, NJ<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • Grades 11 & 12\n
          \n
        • 1st prize:\u00a0Salma Abdallah of East Orange, NJ<\/li>\n
        • 2nd prize:\u00a0Rahma Rizly of Piscataway, NJ<\/li>\n
        • 3rd prize:\u00a0Afnan Abbassi of Washington Township, NJ<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          First prize winners in both age groups will receive a new tablet. Second and third prize winners will receive $200 and $100 gift cards respectively.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>
