Description:
The conversation around Al-Sham, also known as the Levant in English, has garnered considerable interest in the face of recent global events that have devastated the Al Sham regions as well as the larger ummah. Research should be high college level and may include sources such as
research articles, academic journals, scholarly textbooks, as well as Islamic sources (Quran and Hadith). Candidates should be prepared to answer questions on the following themes:
- Historical definition of Al Sham in relation to modern geographical borders.
- Quran and hadith related to Al-Sham.
- Key historical events that occurred in these lands, including identifying rulership periods
- Emphasis on key events affecting the region since World War I, including an emphasis on the relevance of the US.
